Lumiere’s Kitchen dinner review

Lumiere’s Kitchen is a character buffet located on the ground floor of the Shanghai Disneyland Hotel.

We have dined at Lumiere’s Kitchen before, we had breakfast one morning on our 2018 trip and from what I remember it was great, the options, variety and choice of Western and Asian food.

On our last evening in Shanghai Disneyland on this trip, we opted for a dinner buffet, as in my Shanghai Disneyland Hotel review, I stated that everyone should dine here at least once.

Despite being named after a Beauty and the Beast character and themed to Beauty and the Beast, the characters that visit you whilst you dine are the Fab 5, Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto.

We booked to eat on the first seating of the dinner service at 5.30pm. We were the first people in there until around 5.45pm when people started to trickle in, around 6.30pm the  place was almost full. When we were seated a server came over to us and let us know the chef had a special on, a small bird (perhaps a guinea fowl), stuffed with mushrooms, chestnuts and vegetables and covered in a sauce. (I understand this is vague and I am sorry). The language barrier between us and the server was a little apparent here, Sam said he was up for trying it, regardless whether it was included in the buffet price or not. When it arrived it was a meal in itself, I decided against eating it but Sam said it was delicious. It was included in the price of the buffet, which was good.

For 500CNY, around £52. The food selection was beyond worth it. I must have had 4 plates of food! There was tempura, sushi, a seafood bar, curries, soups, an omelette station, a pasta station, carved meats. You name it, they served it.

I ate some traditional Chinese vegetable dishes too, these weren’t to my taste but I didn’t think they would be.

The desserts were beautiful and well presented, as was the chocolate fountain.

Over an hour later we were stuffed and headed back to our room as we were had to be up the next day.

The price to eat here, for breakfast or dinner is 100% worth it.

Have you eaten at Lumiere’s Kitchen before? What were your thoughts? Would you eat here on a visit to Shanghai Disneyland? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
