Reasons to visit Walt Disney World in 2019

I don’t always need a specific ‘reason’ to travel to Walt Disney World and be in the middle of the magic, however there are some exciting things coming in 2019 that really make me want to visit.

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway – This is a new 3.5D ride (yes 3.5D, it is 3D without the glasses, apparently), constructed in the Old Chinese Theatre, where The Great Movie Ride once lived. Whilst onboard Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, you will see unseen Mickey and Minnie cartoons within this simulated attraction. I am extremely excited for this one.

Mickey’s 90th Birthday continues in to 2019 – Mickey recent celebrated his birthday and the celebrations for his birthday continue into September 2019 within the Magic Kingdom. Mickey and Minnie’s Surprise Celebration will include new food, merchandise and entertainment.

Lightening McQueen Racing’s Academy – Arriving Spring 2019 near Rock ‘n’ rollercoaster, this is a brand new show aimed at younger children, but suitable for all ages. Lightning McQueen will also be available for a photo op with guests.

The anniversary of The Lion King – The Lion King celebrates it’s 25th anniversary next year and in the Animal Kingdom there will be celebrations a plenty, there will be a Hakuna Matata Dance Party in Discovery Island plus much more.

IllumiNations ends – After 20 years, EPCOT’s nighttime show, IllumiNations: Reflections of Earth will come to an end. The popular show will be stop at the ‘end of Summer 2019’, no official date has been announced. EPCOT will have a temporary show, EPCOT Forever, until 2020 when a new evening spectacular will debut.

New restaurants coming to Disney Springs – It seems like there is always new eatery’s popping up in Disney Springs, well guess what, 2019 is no exception.

Special Events – There are always special events in Disney, but every year they like to add some new and exciting things to those events. Whether you are coming to EPCOT’s Flower and Garden Festival, Food and Wine or Festival of the Holidays. Or even coming to Magic Kingdom to attend Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas, there are bound to be new things at each event not to be missed.

Monsters Inc Meet and Greet – About bloody time, Mike and Sulley are coming back for a meet and greet in Hollywood Studios.

Gondola Skyliner – In Fall of 2019, the new Skyliner will open. The gondola system will connect to four resorts and to two parks. It is a new form of transportation that will certainly be interesting to see.

And last but not least.

The opening of Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge – While there has been not official opening date for this new land, fans are speculating on 17th December 2019. Hollywood Studios is about to become the most busiest park. It fills me with dread as to how busy it will become if the Toy Story Land or Pandora openings have anything to go by. I will however need to visit to explore the new land and see all the imagineering.
