Polite Pig opened April 2017, along with other quick service and table service restaurants in the Disney Springs area as part of the revamp.
It offers barbequed pork items, such as ribs and platters, burgers and sides such a mac and cheese (it is incredible) and sweet potato wedges. You can purchase and burger, drink and side for around $17/18 which for the portion size, that is great value for money.
Gideon’s Bakehouse is a chain in Orlando that has been open a couple of years who now sell their cookies within The Polite Pig and if you want them, you have to get their for opening!
We arrived at DS Polie Pig at 4pm one afternoon and they had completely sold out of the 200 that had been ordered for that day. I was determind to not miss out, so I got up the next morning, hair not done, no make up on and took the 10 minute bus ride to get my treat.
We arrived a little after 12, there was a queue out the door, I didn’t know who was there for a cookie or who was there for the barbeque pork items. I was getting restless, I couldn’t even get to the counter to see if the cookies were there. All I could do was wait.
When I got to the front of the counter I was greeted by a tray of Gideon’s Bakehouse finest 1/2 pound cookies!!!!! There was plenty for me.
Now $8 is expensive for a cookie, I would never pay £8 for a cookie back home but I had seen these over Instagram for the past few months and just had to have it what ever the price.
The cookie is thick and moist (slightly undercooked, which gives it a raw taste, but I love that) and it is also stuffed and topped with dark and milk chocolate chips and finished off with a sprinkle of sea salt. The salt balances out the sweetness.
It was so big, it took me two days to eat.
Have you had the please of eating a Gideon’s Bakehouse cookie? What are your thoughts. Let me know in the comments.
